Parker's Promise Second chance. New beginnings.
Eligibility

Do I Qualify?

Here's who can apply and how we review applications. If you're not sure whether Parker's Promise is right for you, apply or contact us. We're glad to talk it through.

Who can apply

  • Adults 18 or older who fit one of our programs: U.S. military veterans, older adults, or women rebuilding after abuse.
  • Able to pay rent from any lawful source of income (wages, Social Security, SSI/SSDI, VA benefits, pensions) or an approved funding source or rental assistance.
  • Willing to follow our house rules, including shared chores, no pets, and no overnight guests, and to sign a residency agreement.
  • Understand that we provide housing and non-medical support only. Parker's Promise doesn't provide personal or medical care, so residents manage their own care or arrange it from outside providers.
  • Complete our application and screening: income verification, rental history and, after an interview, a background check.

How we review applications

  • Every applicant is reviewed with the same written standards.
  • Past rental or background history is looked at individually, with a chance to explain. It isn't an automatic denial.
  • We never ask about diagnoses, disabilities or medical history.
  • We reply within 2 business days and send our decision in writing, with the reason if we can't offer a room.
  • Parker's Promise is an Equal Housing Opportunity provider.

Care and support

Parker's Promise is a housing program. Our staff are not medical professionals and don't provide personal care, medication help, nursing, counseling or treatment.

You're still welcome to apply if you need help with daily care. Many residents arrange it from an outside provider they choose, such as a home health aide. If you need someone on site to provide daily hands-on care, a licensed care setting may suit you better, and we're happy to point you to resources.

Need an accommodation? If you have a disability, you can ask for a reasonable accommodation at any point, such as an assistance animal, a ground-floor room or help completing the application. You don't have to tell us your diagnosis. How to ask

What to bring

  • A photo ID (no ID yet? Apply anyway. We can help you get documents.)
  • Proof of income: an award letter, pay stubs or benefits statement
  • Veterans: your DD-214 or VA letter, if you have it
  • There's no fee to apply

Important: Parker's Promise is an independent living housing program, not a medical or care provider. We do not provide medical, nursing, personal care, medication, mental health, counseling or treatment services, and our staff are not medical professionals. Residents arrange any care they need from outside providers of their choice. In an emergency, call 911. Read our Scope of Services.
