Scope of Services: No Medical Services
Parker's Promise is an independent living housing program. It is not a medical or care provider. We rent furnished shared and private rooms and offer non-medical supportive services only.
What we provide
- Furnished shared and private rooms, with utilities, Wi-Fi and laundry
- House rules, a staff contact, and an on-call line for housing emergencies (such as a leak, lockout or fire)
- Optional help setting personal goals, and referrals to outside services you choose
- Help finding transportation options (transportation itself isn't included)
What we do not provide
- Medical, nursing or health care of any kind, or medical advice
- Personal care, such as help with bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, toileting or walking
- Medication administration, reminders, storage or supervision
- Mental health counseling, therapy, or substance use treatment
- 24-hour supervision or monitoring of residents. Our cameras are for property security, are not watched live, and are not a medical alert system.
- Emergency shelter or crisis services
- Management of residents' money, benefits or legal affairs
Parker's Promise is not licensed as, and does not operate as, an assisted living facility, adult family-care home, nursing home, home health agency, hospital, treatment program or domestic violence center. Our staff are not medical professionals.
What residents agree to
- Call 911 in any medical emergency.
- Arrange any care you need from outside providers you choose, at your own expense. We can share a list of local providers.
- Keep and take your own medications, stored in your own lockbox.
- If your needs change, talk with us about outside help, or about moving to a setting that provides care if you choose.
Every resident signs a Scope of Services acknowledgment at move-in. It explains our services; it doesn't take away any right you have under Florida law.
Equal Housing Opportunity & Non-Discrimination
Parker's Promise does not discriminate in housing or services based on race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, pregnancy, age, disability, marital status, familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, veteran status, source of income, status as a victim of domestic violence or stalking, or any other class protected by federal, Florida or Miami-Dade County law.
Our three residences serve different groups: veterans, older adults, and women rebuilding after abuse. Program eligibility is applied consistently to every applicant and in line with fair housing law.
If you believe you've been treated unfairly, contact our director at info@parkerpromisellc.com. You may also contact the Florida Commission on Human Relations (1-800-342-8170) or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) at 1-800-669-9777.
Reasonable Accommodations
If you have a disability, you may ask for a change in our rules, policies or practices, or for permission to make a change to your space, so you can use and enjoy your home equally. Examples: an assistance animal, a ground-floor room, or help filling out forms. Ask any staff member, in writing or out loud. We'll answer within 10 business days. If a request isn't possible, we'll work with you on an alternative.
